Michael Ridge was born and raised in the Pacific Northwest. At age 21, he began learning from the native plants of the west. At 23, he began living full time on horseback, traveling side by side with Finisia Madrano, who had been living on horseback and wild tending for 30 years.
2017 marks Michael’s 4th year living a full-time nomadic lifestyle on horseback. He has committed to a living practice of mending our relationship with the land by perpetuating indigenous culture and walking through each season, leaving the land flourishing behind him.
Michael travels, starting in the spring and finishing in the fall, and makes a camp for the winter. Through his journey of rewilding, he has learned primitive skills, including: brain tanning, gathering food and seed, and replanting seeds.
